Small and Simple Things

We had our last final this morning. Goodbye calculus and Physics! After the final I came home and worked out while Dugan got a little nap. I thought that it wasn’t fair to read President Hinckley’s book and not read his wife’s book so this morning I read and finished “Small and Simple Things” by Marjorie Pay Hinckley. A few of my favorite quotes from this book are, “Choose carefully each day that which you will do and that which you will not do, and the Lord will bless you to accomplish the important things that have eternal consequences.” “We are all in this together. We need each other, Oh, how we need each other. Those of us who are old need you who are young. And, hopefully, you who are young need some of us who are old.” Well you can see that I could be here all night typing up the whole book but I wont. I have decided to take the quotes that really touch me right now and print them out and put them on magnets so I can read them on my fridge often. This is another book that will leave you with such a peaceful feeling. I am so grateful for the peace and comfort my Heavenly Father gives me when I pray and read good books.

Daughters of Our Heavenly Father

I have a calculus final that I need to finish studying for but I wanted to take a quick minute to say something. I just got home from church and am so excited to tell you all that I have just been set apart as the Young Women’s President in my ward. I am grateful and humbled by receiving this call in our intercity ward. I have Faith that my Heavenly Father will help me. I love working with the young women and have a wonderful counselor Ronda who has already shown me so much support. I am grateful for Erin the old president who has taught me so much and I hope I can use many of the things she has taught me. I can’t wait to keep you all posted with all the fun things that the YW will do and the things that they will teach me.

My Sister Ashten had a Beijo purse party. It was lots of fun. Carrie and I got our purses almost a year ago and I am excited for Ashten to have hers.

Today I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep. I was really anxious about my Physics final. I didn’t want to just stay in bed or my mind would just think of things and make me more anxious about my final so I went into our office and picked a book off the bookcase. It was the book “Way to Be” By President Hinckley so I went back to my bed to cuddle up and read. I finished the book in about an hour. It went over the 9 B’s. It was just what I needed. I felt so amazing after reading it and I know that it would get me through my Physics final. I would invite you all to get your hands on it and read it and mark the things that stand out to you. You will feel so good. Later Dugan and I got ready for our Physics final. The Final lasted two long hours but it is all over. Now it is time to get ready for the Calculus final that will be on Monday. I can’t wait for Summer.

Well the TV is still broken. The TV guy ordered a part and came and put it in and it still doesn’t work. Like I said before I could go without but the NBA Playoffs have started. Dugan has moved our other TV into the Family room to hook it up to the cable so GO JAZZ! I will keep you posted. Other then that it has been getting ready for finals at our house. The worst part about finals in Physics and Calculus classes is that they are totally comprehensive. The cover sheet for physics is 4 pages full of formulas and equations that use every letter in the alphabet plus a bunch of Greek letters. It doesn’t help that the same letter stands for 20 different things so we can’t even guess. To lighten things up I had the opportunity to go and do Baptisms for the dead with my Young Women at the Salt Lake Temple on Wednesday. That has really helped put things in perspective. I have also been able to read the April Ensign while working out every morning and of course the BoM before bed. I know that all these things are always important in keeping me from getting into my intense anxiety state. I have been keeping our Heavenly Father very busy with all my extra prayers; good thing finals are over in 9 days. I also thought I would add this little picture I found to help you understand my feelings a little better.

Life keeps you on your toes so dont try to sit down

This week has been crazy for Dugan and I. We have been losing cable channels for the past few months. It has been a tag team between the TV repair guy and the cable guy. Well the TV repair guy was out last Saturday and “fixed” something well It made things worse (much worse). So our main 56” TV has been down all week. Then Dugan took the one off the wall in the bedroom to hook up to the cable and it is setting on the coffee table but that TV. But it has been having problems with one of it ports so he can’t get his PS3 to work. Anyway to say the least I have kind of felt bad for him. I personally could go a long time without TV. I mean I have a few fav shows but I can always find them on the internet if needs be and they are all reruns right now anyway. Well along with the TV stuff we have been pretty busy. All materials for applying to the Arch program at the U are turned in. We had a calculus test on Tuesday and a physics test on Friday. Still that was not enough Dugan and I both had interviews on Thursday for the same Arch Firm. On Thursday when we got to the building we went in and the guy who was interviewing us said that we would go over to this little sandwich, coffee place and he interviewed Dugan and I at the same time for the same position. It was pretty crazy. So we should hear back this next week. Well our finals are in two weeks, cross your fingers and pray for us. We are also anticipating the news of Dugan’s little Sister Amanda having her baby boy. We are looking forward to being out of school and having some freedom to go and see them all in Fernley, NV. Even with everything being so busy we are happy and healthy and miss and love you all.

Girls Night Out

Last night my sister Ashten and I had a girls night out. We went and got manicures and pedicures. Then we went to Roberts and got a few things for our scrapbooks. It was really fun. I also got to see Ashten's little guy Liam roll over all by himself. He is a little over 5 months now.
